Joseph Rykwert (Warsaw, Polonia, 1926) es un consagrado historiador de arquitectura, autor de numerosos libros sobre la materia. En 1939 emigra a Inglaterra. Allí ejerce la docencia en las Universidades de Essex y Cambridge. Actualmente enseña Historia del Arte en la Universidad de Pennsylvania. También ha sido profesor visitante en prestigiosas universidades y ha instruido, a lo largo de su carrera, a toda una generación de historiadores y teóricos de arquitectura.
