Frida, Chavo, Cantinflas, Chavela, we invoke you! Dance, damn you!

On 31st October, the Noche de Muertos returns to the Círculo de Bellas Artes, a party in which catrinas, skulls, flowers, mariachis and cadaverous weeping women take over our building to celebrate the day of the dead in the purest Mexican style.

This festival, which celebrates its third edition in 2024, has already made a place for itself in the partying hearts of Madrid. If you've enjoyed our Carnival, you can't miss the Night of the Dead! Come and party under the dome of the Salón de Baile and among the marbles of the Columnas hall covered in papel picado and dressed in spectacular costumes for the occasion.

This year, a line-up of DJs will get even the dead people up and dancing to cumbia and kuduro, mambo and reggaeton, there will be performances and surprises, the music will play all night long and the Círculo will be a sort of flowery altar where the best costumes of the city will be paraded.

Dr. Alderete

Ever since the first edition of the Baile de Máscaras was held in 1891, the tradition of posters for the Círculo de Bellas Artes festivities has been part of the history of design in Spain.

On this occasion, Jorge Alderete, alias Dr. Alderete, has been commissioned to design the poster for Noche de Muertos. A graphic artist, illustrator, author, designer, cultural manager, musician and sometimes photographer, he was born in Patagonia (Argentina) in 1971 and has lived in Mexico since 1998. He is co-founder of the Galería Vértigo. He plays the theremin and draws live with Sonido Gallo Negro.

His work has been published in several specialised anthologies such as Illustration Now! and Diseño Gráfico Latinoamericano (Taschen) where they say: ‘Jorge Alderete is one of the most emblematic artists of Latin America’. Since 2015 he is a member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale). He was a beneficiary of Sistema Nacional de Creadores, FONCA 2018-2021.
